I only recently heard about this tragedy. I met Alberto during the first RECOMB meeting in Santa Fe and later we worked and published together. I am sad and will miss him. He had a great personality and a brilliant mind.
Il mio amico Alberto era una bellissima persona! Ricordo la sua gioia il giorno che scalai con lui il Corno alle Scale. Alberto era un bravo alpinista! Io avevo più anni di esperienza alpinistica, ma per me era lui il professore che conosce tutto ciò che c'è da conoscere per andare in montagna in sicurezza. Mi fidavo di lui! Durante le nostre scalate ho imparato ad apprezzare e a stimare l'uomo Alberto. Penso al dolore di Cristina e della sua famiglia e mi sento vicino a loro. Dopo tanti mesi non sono ancora riuscito ad accettare il fatto che non faremo più alpinismo insieme sulle Dolomiti. Eravamo felici mentre scalavamo assieme le pareti di roccia e neve. Questa felicità rimarrà per sempre dentro di me. Grazie Alberto!

Dear Alberto, I just heard the very shocking news. What a tragedy to lose a wonderful guy like you. The last time we meet we still discussed a previous mountaineering accident. At least you did what you liked best. You left a hole in my heart.

This is tragic news. Alberto, I have always appreciated you talent, sense of humour, and honesty. I still remember our discussions on the PC of ESA 2011: you were always in the trenches to fight for what was worth defending. You never gave up. You died on the beautiful mountains you loved. I will miss you very much. Ciao Alberto.
It is with such great shock that I just read of Alberto's passing. A distinct voice of enthusiasm, intelligence, honesty, and wit that I will profoundly miss, and will be missed by the entire community.
Come studente teledidattico ho "frequentato" il suo videocorso di ricerca operativa e sostenuto con lui l'esame finale. Nonostante la limitatezza dei mezzi, ho potuto apprezzare lo stesso la chiarezza espositiva (indice di grande competenza). Mi ha trasmesso entusiasmo, passione e interesse per la materia.
